Suntory Hall (Tokyo, Japan)
Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra
Alexander Dmitriev, Conductor
Sergey Khachatryan, Violin
Shchedrin: Concerto for Orchestra No. 1, Naughty Limericks
Khachaturian: Violin Concerto in d Minor
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 1 in f Minor, Op. 10
Khachatryan's concerto was performed by Khachatryan, a violinist who was also born in Armenia. I like this concerto, especially the third movement which is kind of an ethnic music. I enjoyed Sergey's violin. He played "Apricot Tree" for encore, which was also beautiful.
Suntory Hall is one of the best concert venue in Japan. There are around ten professional orchestras in Japan. Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra is my favorite one.
